The garden islands by the boat ramp that welcome visitors to Sunapee Harbor is known as the Memorial Garden. The garden was originally designed by Sue Clough of Spring Ledge Farm in 1996 and was originally funded by donations in memory of or in honor of loved ones.

It was redesigned by the Sunapee Gardeners with advice from Cherie D’Agustinis in 2021. Some of the original plants were kept and boulders and shrubs were planted. Hydrangeas were included to reduce the number of annuals. The small boulders add structure to the garden especially in the winter.

Perennials in the garden surviving from the original design are Baptisia, phlox, juniper, astilbe, obedient plant and liatris. More recently Little Quickfire Hydrangeas, Mountain Hydrangeas, sedums, geraniums and Junipers were added along with the boulders.

Annuals in the garden this year are: Cosmos Sonata Mix, Salvia Farinacea “Deep Ocean”, Calibrachoa Noa “Blue Legend” and Calibrachoa Noa “Snow”.
